About
Us
Orton
Meadows Golf Course was opened initially in May 1982 as a
12 hole course and later extended to 18 holes in April 1987.
The course was designed by Dennis and Roger Fitton, the joint
professionals at Orton Meadows and Thorpe Wood Golf Courses.
The
first 12 holes were laid out on land available in the Ferry
Meadows Country Park and the remaining land on flood plain
reclaimed during gravel extraction.
The
course is 5613 yards in length with a par 67.
A club was formed in 1987.
Golf
societies are very welcome.

A 12
Hole Pitch and Putt Course is a very popular attraction at
Orton Meadows appealing to players of all ages and all levels.
It provides fun for those who do not play golf, is an introduction
to the game for those who would like to become golfers and
provides practice for the more established player.
Greenkeeping
is under the personal supervision of David Walden who has
won the accolade of Premier Greenkeeper of the year. David
and his team can be seen around the course from first to last
light making sure that the course, the fairways, the greens
are all in the best possible condition.
During
September and October some work may be in progress making
it necessary to use the occasional temporary green. Our aim
is to ensure that any such work causes the minimum inconvenience.
